Garmin 1350lmt Review

Good GPS,

Below is Garmin 1350lmt Review By Dr. Dave (New Jersey, USA)

II’ve owned Garmin GPS devices in the past and the Nuvi 1350 is my most recent purchase. It works as advertised, has a clear, easily read display, is easy to set up, and the window mount is secure. I particularly like the more robust USB cable and power connector. I have had none of the battery issues that some users have experienced. Here are some tips that will help you get more value from this GPS if you decide to purchase one.

First, register it online. Mine came with maps from 2009 and with online registration you can get a one time map update at no charge.

Second, you will need to purchase an inexpensive micro-SD card as the Garmin does not have enough memory to download the update. The download process is straightforward but involved downloading software from the Garmins website. Make sure you’ve fully charged the unit before you begin. For some reason, probably the Garmin servers, it took me about three hours to download and install my new maps.

Finally, Garmin now uses Lithium Ion batteries which are sensitive to heat and cold. Use common sense and don’t leave it exposed to the sunlight or leave it in the car when you’re not driving. If you want to charge it in the car, shut it off after it boots up and leave it in a safe place to charge. You can also charge it from your computer.

The documentation that comes with the GPS is very limited and doesn’t cover any of the above information. I hope that this helps you get more value out of your GPS.
